A lvl 80 boost gives you i believe Celestial gear which is kind of an all arounder and even meta on some professions, so you can continue with open world content as you like. And if your trait combination doesn't work, make another, you can "respec" any time out of combat, just swap traits in the hero panel.
Spend some time exploring central Tyria with your level 80. Concentrate on waypoints, hero points and mastery points. You may finish hearts when participating in an event, but don't obsess over them. If you find a heart that is tedious or irritating, by all means skip it. (You don't have to feed the cows if you don't want to.)
Well, first, the point requirement was reduced a long time ago. You only need 250 hero points to unlock everything in your elite spec. That mean, assuming you've done zero world completion on your character and only got them to level 80, you'll need 25 hero points, since each challenge in Magus Falls gives you 10.
not at the moment, hero points will be used in elite specializations as well. They are a hard capped resource, so any use for them would need to be pretty good. you have to let them sit. they are a non-renewable resource in the game and will only be used for unlocking skills and traits of core and elite specs.
