This is the minimum discrete card that we deem viable in Guild Wars 2. It's able to handle many titles at 1920x1080 or 1280x720. 7770 1 GB GDDR5Radeon HD 6870 1 GB GDDR5Radeon HD 7870 2 GB
I have been playing since launch but i never really used task manager to check how much resources the game was using till now. I just did. Its using 10,000 MB of ram. I have only 16 GB of ram and with my web browser open and listening to Spotify, along with all the other background processes almost 97% of my ram is being used. while that is generally true for other games it is not the case for guild wars 2, i.e. all the other replies stating almost 50GB are correct whereas 30 is clearly not. that file taking up so much space in your installation directory is compressed. It will never be extracted by the game.
Pretty much, yes. In my installation gw2.dat (the main data file) is 63 GB, and everything else (launcher and few dlls) is pretty much inconsequential. This is without considering any potential addons though.

If you can handle it, you can get GW2 to download more files at a time (8 is default) by launching with: -patchconnections 20. Most files GW2 downloads are < 10 KB, which take longer to request than to download. GW2 is downloading hundreds of files per second, so latency and disk speed become the major factors.
